Cheesy Carrot Apple Treats
Cheese is another food that most dogs crave, but it is best in small doses. This recipe combines cheese with whole grains, veggies and fruit for a more wholesome snack. Some adult dogs can be lactose intolerant so dairy may upset their GI system, and more rarely dogs can be allergic to dairy. But most pets will gobble these up with delight.
Equipment: Brød & Taylor Sahara Folding Dehydrator
Time & Temperature: Dehydrate for 6-8 hours or until desired hardness at 165F.

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix by hand until all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
Turn the mixture out onto a lightly floured cutting board or counter and press flat with your hands. Better still roll with a rolling pin. Flatten to approximately ¼ inch thick. I’ve got four dogs and enjoy making them special treats, thanks for the recipes!
I just made a batch – in Sahara dehydrator now. Here are my thoughts so far: 1. The dough was too wet following the recipe as written. I added more flour and put it in the fridge to firm up. 2. The dough stuck to the “lightly floured” board. Had to keep scooting more flour under the dough. Had to keep dusting the top of the dough. Had to dust cookie cutter with flour before each use. 3. Recommend shredding both cheese and carrots finer than in the picture accompanying recipe. And using cookie cutter with little detail. 4. It would be appreciated if weight (grams) was provided in addition to volume.
I am finding this dough impossible to handle – so sticky/wet. I am adding a LOT of additional flour. Has this recipe been tested?
